La Hasta accommodation in Surba in the Ariege Pyrenees

Activity holidays in the Ariége Pyrenees

Whether it's rock climbing, cycling, hiking, watersports, skiing, sightseeing or just relaxing and enjoying the fabulous scenery, the Ariege Pyrenees has it all.

The Ariege has a growing reputation as one of Europe's best destinations for mountain activities; with easy access, diverse landscapes and stunning views, it's easy to see why. The outstanding environment and historical and cultural heritage of the area has recently been recognised with the award of regional park status.

Rock climbers will find a huge number and variety of crags covering all styles and disciplines from bouldering and sport climbing to traditional and ice climbing. 'Calames', one of the best rock climbing areas in the region, is just minutes away and another 3 crags are close by giving access to around 350 routes.

Thought of by many as a superior walking destination to the Alps, the Pyrenees offer a wider variety of landscapes and more accessible peaks, many of which can be gained by the average walker with a minimum of equipment. The Ariege is no exception, with over 500km of marked footpaths taking in some of the highest peaks in the range as well as more relaxing valley and themed walks. The major regional hiking tour (GR du pays de Trois Seigneurs) passes the accommodation and provides the perfect starting point to explore this outstanding area.

The tourist area of 'Les Montagnes de Tarascon et du Vicdessos' of which we are a part, offers a well developed and hugely diverse range of activities and sights to see, all within easy reach. From prehistoric cave art and Cathar Castles to traditional crafts and wildlife watching... Come to the Ariege Pyrenees and see what you can discover...
